Is Bottle Beach Worth the Effort?
If you’re looking for feelings of seclusion, it’s definitely worth putting in the extra yards to get to Bottle Beach. Why? Because when the day visitors have departed and you’re left with nothing but the sound of lapping waves and breezy palms.. it will all make sense.
Tucked away on Koh Phangan’s northern coast, Bottle Beach (also known as Haad Khuat) is reachable only by longtail boat, sweaty hikes or hazardous dirt tracks. Those who make the effort are rewarded though, as relative isolation and Robinson Crusoe vibes await.

Things to Do at Bottle Beach
- Come here for a few days to escape the hustle, bustle and noise of Haad Rin.. this is definitely a good place to kick back, relax and enjoy some solitude.
- The water is nice and clear, so swimming is good and the eastern side of the beach has some decent snorkelling.
- For a little nearby beach-hopping, catch a longtail boat to the beautiful twin bays of Thong Nai Pan to the east.
- Feeling energetic? Follow signs on the beach and hike up through jungle to the incredible Phasawan Viewpoint for stunning, elevated views of the bay below (▼ like this ▼). Approx 2 hours return.

How to Get to Bottle Beach
You will need to work a bit harder to get here than most of Koh Phangan’s other beaches but it will be worth it. Take a songthaew (taxi) to the pier at Chaloklam bay on the island’s north coast. This will take around 20 minutes from Thong Sala or 30 minutes from Haad Rin. Once at the Chaloklam pier, take a longtail taxi boat around the headland to Bottle Beach (approx 15-20 mins). These go frequently in the high season (Dec-Apr) when seas are calm but are less reliable out of season or when the weather is unsettled, as the sea gets too choppy.
